Overall Score – 4.5/5 – The new and improved Blu electronic cigarette is getting a nearly perfect score based on the major improvements that has been made to the brand. However, it still has a few problem areas that might need to be ironed out to achieve perfection. While there are no products on the market that can be perfect for every customer across the board, Blu has consistently received high marks from the many people who make it their electronic cigarette of choice. In addition, with all of the changes and improvements made by the brand, there have been old customers who had been less than thrilled that have given Blu a second try and found that they are quite pleased with the changes. One of the biggest changes that Blu has made has been to reduce its parts from three to two, making it simpler to use. In addition, the liquid that creates the vapor has also been changed to a much safer formula that is not only an improvement from the old version but safer than that being used by industry leaders. Blu is available in a black and white version and can also be placed together to look more like a traditional cigarette. In addition, Blu has also added a disposable option to its lineup for those who are interested in that choice rather than the refillable cartridge.
Presentation and Packaging – 5/5 – Of all of the features of Blu electronic cigarettes that set the brand apart from all the competition, the really cool package might be the top of the list. Featuring a black, flip top package that holds five cartridges and the charger, Blu does something that no other brand on the market can do: it helps you identify other Blu users. Whenever you are near another person with a Blu package, your package will not only vibrate but the logo will light up in blue as well. It is like being part of an ultra hip club. Inside of the package is the cool looking Blu electronic cigarette, especially stylish in black but also available in white as well.
Flavor – 3/5 – Being able to choose the level of nicotine also allows the electronic cigarette user to determine how much flavor they are getting. A richer, more substantial flavor might be noticed with the upper levels of nicotine, but even with the lower levels, the flavor is fairly full and enjoyable. Nicotine levels include zero milligram, eight, twelve and sixteen milligrams.
Flavor Variety – 3/5 – Blu would have received a higher score in the category of flavor variety if they simply had more flavors to choose. However, the flavors that Blu does offer are good and include classic tobacco, menthol, java jolt, cherry and vanilla. The classic tobacco and menthol flavors taste like a regular, traditional cigarette, while the other three are a light, sweet vapor that can be an interesting break from what you are used to smoking. There are options to buy cartridges in mixed packages so that you can vary your flavors or you can buy them in all the same flavor if you would prefer.
Vapor Volume – 5/5 – An industry leader in this category, Blu electronic cigarettes create a substantial amount of satisfying vapor with a simple draw, allowing for a similar experience as one would get from smoking a real cigarette. The new and improved liquid contained in the cartridges is specially formulated to give this thick, heady cloud of vapor without needing to constantly inhale or to draw particularly hard. Others in the electronic cigarette industry strive to reach the levels of vapor that you can get from Blu. While the score was a perfect five out of five, there were a few complaints from customers that said they were not getting the vapor that they wanted. After speaking to the Blu customer service department, those customers were given suggestions and troubleshooting tips that not only improved their vapor production but also changed their entire perspective of the product as a whole. The average user will get the right amount of vapor, but if you do not, don’t fret- there are ways to improve vapor production that are simple.
Battery Life – 3/5 – While Blu has improved the battery life substantially from its old design, it is still not at the top levels in the industry in this category. It does last fairly long; however, there is the ability to charge on the run by use of the specially designed Blu package. That pushes the score higher than it would have otherwise been. The battery life might be affected by how frequently you are using your electronic cigarette plus the weather conditions and other factors. It is recommended that you always unscrew the cartridge when it is not going to be used for any length of time to preserve its life.
Value – 4/5 – Unlike some of the competition, Blu does not automatically enroll people into automatic shipping programs. Many customers have complained about these programs, which they say are nothing but scams and an expensive way to suck in customers. Pricing for the Blu electronic cigarette are comparable to others in the industry and free shipping makes it even more attractive. For some companies, shipping might be free, but the overall price is raised. Blu, when used in the suggested way, should take the equivalent of a full pack of cigarettes for each cartridge. When figuring the value of your Blu electronic cigarettes divide the full price by the number of cartridges in your package. Compare that price to the cost of a pack of traditional cigarettes times the number of packs you smoke per week and you will see how great the Blu value actually is.
Shipping – 5/5 – The perfect score for Blu’s shipping is not only because it is free but because it is also fast and reliable. There were a few complaints that shipping was slow, but those were rare and may not have had any direct link to the company itself. Customer service was typically able to give an approximate date of arrival and be close to that date without a problem. In some areas, shipping might be slightly longer than in others because of location as well as postal carriers. You will be informed of any potential delays in shipping when this is the case. To prevent running out of your cartridges, it is strongly suggested that you reorder at least one to two weeks before you are about to run out so that your package will arrive on time.

Except for the battery I like Blu and am glad I chose this brand. I have read this battery is an improvement from the last version, which surprises me. This is the one thing that frustrates me but aside from that I feel all the important factors like taste and vapor are there, so the other things don’t really matter.
Buy an extra battery and you will probably be just fine with Blu.
I had used the old version of Blu and actually liked it and was thrilled to find the new version is even better. The conversion from 3 part to 2 was brilliant and has made me a convert as well. I don’t think I could ever go back to a 3 part ecig no matter what. It’s cleaner, smoother and seems to work better for the drag. I’m also a brand loyal Blu user from here on out. If you have never tried Blu, this is the version that will get you hooked.
I was having problems with the vapor and getting a real drag off the Blu ecig and was ready to buy another kind altogether. After reading similar complaints and hearing how customer service reps had been helping guide users through tips to improve the use, I made a call. I am happy to report that one phone call is what helped change my entire experience. It is a shame there will be others out there who don’t know about this and it will ruin their entire use of the Blu brand.
Blu has left this former smoker just that – blue! My boyfriend got this for me as a gift because I have been trying to not think about the fact that I quit smoking. Since he has never been a smoker and didn’t read other reviews he wasn’t sure what to get. Unfortunately this has been nothing but a big disappointment.
The one good thing I can say is the vapor is pretty full when it comes to Blu electronic cigarettes. Other than that I can’t offer too much good to say about this particular brand. It is hard to say since I haven’t tried any other ecigs before but it seems the flavor should be more full and closer to the real thing, like the tobacco flavor. I tried java jolt and wasn’t sure what it was really supposed to taste like. Also, there aren’t that many flavors to choose from which I realized once I started looking at other brands and seeing what the competition has available. Unless you have tried Blu before or know someone you trust who really raves about it, you may want to consider another electronic cigarette brand.
Not being someone who cares much about packaging or a lot of fancy flavors I find I am a satisfied Blu customer. The flavors they do have are good and I am pretty much sticking with the classic tobacco. Even though I don’t care about things like what the package looks like I have to say I think the package actually does look pretty cool.
I can’t believe there aren’t more complaints about the flavor and Blu electronic cigarettes. In fact I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews that did have negative things to say about flavor or I would probably not have gone with this brand.
The free shipping is what caught my attention and before I knew it I had placed the order. The problem is I realized afterwards that there really wasn’t much flavor variety to choose from. Not to mention the flavor you do get is not exactly the best on the market. I can’t say I will probably stick with or even be keeping the Blu electronic cigarette for long.
This is the first ecig that I tried and I loved it. The flavor is great, the packing was great…what more can I say, Blu electronic cigarette just completely worked for me! Lucky me!
Someone that is working on the road and seems to be in the car all of the time might want to consider the battery life of the Blu electronic cigarette. This will be necessary as it does seem to drain very quickly. I found that if I am not using the product that it is best to unscrew the filter so that the battery will last longer. Just something to keep in mind if you are using the Blu cigarette.
I’m honestly amazed when I see users wasting their time posting about things like what the package looks like. The bottom line is how an ecig:
• Tastes
• The vapor volume
• Amount of battery life
Blu does well in these 3 areas on almost any review you read so the less seems pointless. I consider myself a connoisseur of electronic cigs and in my opinion Blu is an underrated ecig that deserves more recognition.
