Overall Score – 4/5 – While there is some room for improvement for LUCI brand electronic cigarettes, we feel this brand does have a lot of potential and already does offer a lot. With some improvements, LUCI could easily be a five out of five with some minor adjustments and improvements on future versions. As it is now the presentation and packaging along with the free shipping are two of the brand’s best features. The overall value is also something many companies lack but LUCI has managed to achieve. The main focus that needs improvement is the flavor and vapor volume. Unfortunately, these are two of the most important features people look for when choosing electronic cigarettes. Former smokers want to feel they are still getting something from their electronic cigarettes that they miss from being a smoker. If LUCI can make their vapor volume thicker and the taste more robust, they could easily become a contender among the best sellers.
Presentation & Packaging – 5/5 – Obviously, this is based on how we feel the LUCI electronic cigarette starter kits look, and not everyone has the same taste in design esthetics. The sleek, modern and classic black look feels very refined. The subtle magnetic closure helps secure the contents too. The “cigarette” itself also looks good with the all black design. When it comes to electronic cigarettes, keeping it simple is often the best way to go. LUCI has accomplished this by creating an elegant and classic look and design. So, while this may not be that important for some users, the design aspect is top notch on this product. Not everyone raves about the blue LED flame tip, but we thought it was a cool change of pace.
Flavor – 3.5/5 – The flavor score was really almost a 4, but just couldn’t quite make it. For some reason it just seems lacking when compared to some of the other choices out there. It feels weak and not as robust as many of the competitors. While the taste you do get is unique and pleasant, it just isn’t quite as fulfilling as other choices out there aside from LUCI. While some competitors offer variations such as full flavor and light, the LUCI has just full flavor or regular, which ends up tasting like a light or even ultra light anyway.
Flavor Variety – 3/5 – It would not be so bad that there are not that many flavor choices if the flavor was intense enough to make up for this. We often find electronic cigarette brands that offer many flavors lack flavor in any of them. In other words, these companies seem to feel there must be a choice between quantity and quality. Unfortunately, LUCI falls flat by not really offering either. The flavor choices fall flat and mostly the taste does a bit too. At present, the only flavor choices offered by LUCI electronic cigarettes are full flavor, menthol, coffee and cherry. While the variety can always increase, we think it would be best for the flavors they have to be improved before worrying about expanding the flavor variety line.
Vapor Volume – 3.5/5 – Like the flavor, LUCI just seems to be lacking a bit, providing smokers with what they want from an electronic cigarette. Many users have shared this view claiming the vapor isn’t nearly thick enough and in some cases not much better than air. This seems to have little to do with the amount of battery power because even at full charge there does not seem to be an increase in vapor volume. Even taking stronger drags from the LUCI electronic cigarette does not seem to help as it merely creates a bit of a liquid sense as opposed to thicker vapor or fuller vapor volume.
Battery Life – 3.5/5 – LUCI does require the product to be fully charged for use and even then it takes a few primer inhales to get it going fully. There is also a commonly complained about design flaw in which the changing of cartridges can be challenging at best. The battery, though, seems to hold about the average charge for a fair amount of time, which makes it completely acceptable and in fact above average when compared to the competition. The plus side too is that the LUCI starter kit comes with both a wall and car charger kit for the battery so you can charge it whenever you need to.
Value – 4/5 – The most basic LUCI starter kit is certainly not the cheapest on the electronic cigarette market, but what you get makes it worthwhile. Currently there are four different starter kit options for LUCI with one well under $100 and another just squeaking by at $99. All of the four options are basically well worth the value; it just depends how extensive you would like for your starter kit to be. The complete starter kit is actually a popular option even though it is currently priced at $199; it includes 105 cartridges. Any of the four options for the LUCI electronic cigarette starter kits include two li-ion batteries, one atomizer, one home charger and five cartridge tips. You also get an industry standard 30 day money back guarantee as well as a lifetime warranty, on the atomizer at least.
Shipping – 5/5 – This is one of the few electronic cigarette brands that have made the wise choice to offer free shipping. Many brands disappoint consumers by charging a lot for shipping, which you don’t find out until the checkout time. Keep in mind this is only on orders of more than $100, so if you are choosing either of the lower priced LUCI starter kits you may want to go ahead and order a second battery or cartridges to be able to take advantage of the free shipping. Just keep this in mind or be willing to pay for shipping. The shipping time was exactly what we hoped for too. Some companies that offer free shipping make you wait a while to get your order, but as far as we could tell, there was no hesitation.
