Overall Score – 4.5/5 – Overall, the South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes has made some very good improvements. In several areas, they were already quite good and they continue to earn high marks for those qualities, however, there are still areas that need to be worked on, preventing the brand from earning the full five stars. For the average smoker, the cartridge might last as much as a full day or two, while a heavy smoker might go through them twice as fast. Because that is an individual consideration, we did give some leeway in the scoring in that section. Once again, with only a few areas of improvement, South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes can make it to the top rankings for overall value, taste and appeal.
Presentation and Packaging 5/5 – This is one area that South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes cannot be beat in. From the slick packaging that it arrives in to the real cigarette appearance of the actual product, it is eye appeal coupled with actual usability. The box is a classy, glossy black with great looking graphics, a design that shows that they really focused on the product inside. While other e-cigarettes are trying to look like anything but cigarettes, the South Beach Smoke e-cig is as real in appearance as they can get. A recent upgrade in this department has done away with the phony looking, plastic tip and replaced it with a really cool, orange led crystal that lights up as you inhale, giving it even more of a realistic appearance. If you were to look quickly at this e-cigarette in use, you would most definitely believe it was the real thing.
Flavor – 4/5 – Flavors are solid and consistent all around, with a couple of exceptions. Vanilla, while pleasant enough, still had an off putting, artificial quality to it and the tobacco flavor really didn’t hit enough of the right notes. On the other hand, the cherry was a clear favorite and chocolate was surprisingly well favored as well. In all, the only one that really fell completely flat was the menthol flavor because it was either too intense in one set of cartridges or too mild in another. Consistency might enhance the scoring in this area, provided of course that they get the flavor right in the first place. One thing that is very good about the South Beach Smoke is the availability of varying levels of nicotine ranging from none at all to 16 mg. Those choices can also affect the flavor of your favorite choice.
Flavor Variety – 4/5 – Updated: There are now ten flavor choices for South Beach Smoke’s e-cigarette. These flavors include: cherry, chocolate, vanilla, menthol and tobacco. Rumors about a new flavor, thought to be potentially a coffee flavor, have come to nothing so far, but can confirm their new Pina Colada flavor is a winner. As mentioned before, the cherry is an overall favorite, providing an enjoyable, fruity taste without a lingering, unpleasant after taste that can detract from the experience. Vanilla can be vastly improved and fixing the issues with the menthol flavor can also make this an overall winner. Our suggestion is to not to invest in any flavor other than tobacco or menthol until you have tried the variety pack, which is a sampler of five flavors.
Vapor Volume – 5/5 – In the category of vapor volume, we have to give the highest rating to South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes because from the first draw, you are able to fill your entire mouth as well as your throat and lungs with the vapor in a very satisfying way. There is no need for strong or constant puffing to get the vapor that you desire. That coupled with the right flavor and the right nicotine level gives you a product that gets as close to the real smoking experience as you can get without lighting a real cigarette. The new, stronger battery has kept this one area that is very strong for the South Beach Smoke, allowing for even more vapor to be created without any additional effort needed.
Battery Life – 2.5/5 – Here is one of those categories where South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes really must work hard to improve. For one thing, the battery life is erratic at best. While they have just upgraded the battery to a much higher 4.2 volt, it remains to be seen if that has fixed many of the major glitches. Customer complaints about how heavy this new battery is are already pouring in, but there were problems with the old, smaller battery as well. For some people, the battery charged quickly and lasted a fair amount of time. For others, it would take forever to charge the battery and it would be dead in no time at all. That inconsistency is a major hurdle that the company must work to overcome. While there are many factors that can impact battery charging speeds and life, the company must work hard to ensure that there is at least some consistency from battery to battery and customer to customer.
Value – 3/5 – The score for value would be much higher because the starter kit is actually a great value and comes with an instant discount. However, for those who are heavy duty smokers, the club price, which you must pay to get refill cartridges shipped to you, can be very high. Some people have complained about being automatically enrolled in the club even when they told customer service no. This must be remedied so that South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes can earn the higher scores.
Shipping – 4/5 – In the final category, South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes earns a four rather than a five because there have been some occasional delays. Overall, however, packages arrive on time, in good condition and when expected. Shipping costs are reasonable and are the same whether you are ordering a starter kit, a deluxe starter kit or refill cartridges as part of the automatic home shipping club. While other companies may offer free shipping on their items, they typically raise their prices in other areas to make up for that discount. Compare cost with and without shipping, and you will find that South Beach Smoke Electronic Cigarettes deserves high grades for this area. A final note on shipping: when receiving your package, it is important that you inspect it carefully to make sure that everything is included. There have been some customer complaints that chargers, batteries or other items have been left out. If this is the case, a quick call to customer service should remedy the problem without delay.
