Overall – 4/5 – The score for the Stog electronic cigarettes is not based on an average of the other scores combined. This more reflects what we found this brand had to offer overall. The bottom line with Stog is that if you are looking for a basic starter kit and the simple tobacco flavors this is probably suited for you. However, if you would like options in how little or much your starter kit has, and want fruity flavors for your e-cigarettes this is probably not even worth considering. Stog seems to want to keep it simple and that is actually rather refreshing. Keeping the focus on flavors like bold, mellow and menthol in either heavy, medium or light is exactly what we were looking for. Of course, the reality is that for many former smokers this may not be enough variety. With the trend towards having electronic cigarettes for a sweet, candy flavored vapor to enjoy in public, this brand would miss the mark for this type of experience.
Presentation & Packaging – 2/5 – We will be the first to admit that our scores for presentation and packaging with Stog did not match a good majority of other reviews. For us the only problem was that the packaging looks a little generic and lackluster. It does have an appeal to a bit of the “all American” red, white and blue feel. However, for those who just want a simplistic but modern looking pack that resembles the pack they once carried this isn’t it. Aside from looks though the design does work well with a slide top and the interior which is organized without being too complicated to even use correctly. Some packages go overboard with whistles and bells and make the interior more complicated than it needs to be.
Flavor – 4/5 – For those who care more about how their electronic cigarettes taste as opposed to what they look like, Stog is among the best available. Again not all the reviews we found matched our thoughts but most were still quite favorable. The bottom line in our opinion is that taste matters when it comes to making the switch to electronic cigarette and taste is what you will find with this brand. The best way to describe this one is distinct. It is not as robust or intense as some other brands but it is rich, flavorful and most of all unique. More than likely if flavor is one of your main priorities when it comes to e-cigarettes you will not be disappointed with Stog.
Flavor Variety – 4.5/5 – Each former smoker is as unique as the smoking habit they had. For some like us the main point is flavors that stick to a classic tobacco flavor. For others the point is to have multiple fruity or fancy flavors as well. While we were actually more than satisfied by the varieties available as an overall score for the number of varieties available Stog has to score low. There are literally brands out there that offer 30 or more and Stog sticks to three giving you a choice of bold, mellow and menthol. For those who are looking to replicate the taste of whichever style of traditional cigarette they once smokes however, this more limited flavor selection is probably exactly what you are looking for. The benefit of Stog is that you also then choose heavy, medium or light for the ‘hits.’
Vapor Volume – 3.5/5 – Stog actually impressed us with the vapor volume the main issue was really just in comparison to other brands. Stog was neither the strongest, nor the weakest but managed to come in at above average. The bottom line for Stog electronic cigarettes’ vapor volume is that it could be more full but also does not really disappoint. Obviously, there are choices available, which offer a much more robust plume for the vapor volume. You will not however find yourself dragging hard on this just to get some vapor volume. In addition, a common problem with electronic cigarettes is that the vapor volume tends to be directly related to the battery life. Many brands leave users unfulfilled once the battery begins to dwindle even the least bit. However, this did not seem to be the case with Stog, at least not in our experience with them.
Battery Life – 4/5 – The simplicity of the Stog battery seems to be working for it. A white finish that comes in a medium size length, Stog runs middle of the road with their battery. Many brands have either a small battery that is more discreet but does not last nearly long enough. Others offer a longer battery that lasts longer but is bulky and not so user friendly. The Stog alternative is a refreshing mid size and good amount of battery lifetime contribution to the e-cigarette market. As we often recommend though, it is often a good idea to have a second backup battery.
Value – 3.5/5 – This score is really based more on the fact that Stog does not offer any choices as other brands do. While brands offering smaller starter packs usually do not offer the greatest kit, it does leave options for those who have a smaller budget to work with. The Stog “starter kit” is actually priced at over $100 but seems to be on an ongoing sale price under that $100 mark. For the sale price, the value is at least decent. It seems difficult to ask new electronic cigarette users to invest over $100 to start without at least another option. If you want value for this brand try to get it while the sale is still going on.
Shipping – 5/5 – For the non-sale price, the shipping cost is a bit burdensome. If you do manage to get yours during the 30% off sale though the shipping fee is acceptable. We still are always partial to those brands who understand the importance of offering free shipping to at least make their customers feel they are getting a better deal. Finding out while you are checking out what type of fee you will pay for shipping is always disappointing.
