Overall – 4/5 – We can’t say the ZEROCIG bowled us over. As a consumer though we feel this would be a good, respectable starter kit brand to try. In other words, you are not likely to be disappointed. On the other hand there may be other brands that have slightly richer flavor, a thicker vapor volume, more flavor choices and better battery life. Of course, keep in mind there a great deal many that fall way short in all of these categories as well. It boils down to deciding what your priorities are when it comes to an electronic cigarette. If you are a first time user this may be more difficult to determine than if you have tried other kinds before. Remember it is important not to expect the same thing from an e-cig as you get from a traditional tobacco cigarette. Making a comparison is like the cliché apples and oranges. The problem is that if you think this way, you are likely to be disappointed regardless of which type of electronic cigarette brand you try. If you are looking for an above average e-cig at a great price the ZEROCIG may be the perfect option for you.
Presentation & Packaging – 3.5/5 – The presentation and packaging is clean, simple and straight to the point. The problem is that sometimes clean comes across as effortlessly cool and sometimes is comes across as generic. The ZEROCIG starter kit comes across as almost generic but not quite. For those who are concerned with looks when it comes to your electronic cigarette options, this may not be your first choice. If you are more concerned with issues like vapor volume, throat hit and flavor then this mediocre score should not matter much. The bottom line is, take a look at the presentation and packing before placing your order and you should have an idea of what to expect. What you see is what you get.
Flavor Score – 4/5 – Moving on from worrying about the style of your e-cig, the flavor score does better for ZEROCIG. While there certainly are brands out there that offer a more robust flavor, the ZEROCIG does not disappoint. The flavor is distinct as well rich enough, as long as you have the battery charged well enough. Of course, this is often the case for many brands, but make sure you have portable chargers with you if you intend to be out for a long day or evening and want to continue to enjoy the richest taste ZEROCIG offers. Some of this also depends on the flavor you get. We did notice some flavors were richer than others but we will get into that with the flavor options.
Flavor Variety – 4/5 – Again, ZEROCIG falls slightly above middle of the road on the topic of flavor score. There are a few brands out there that offer a great deal more variety but for those looking for just above the basics this should be plenty. Currently ZEROCIG offers Tobacco, Menthol, Cherry, Chocolate, Mocha, Strawberry, Vanilla and Banana. The tried and true favorite here from any brand is always tobacco but some of the others were a surprise we enjoyed. The menthol, mocha, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry were the easiest to distinguish and probably the richest. The others were good, yet maybe not as easy to name as the first few mentioned. Either way the flavors were all surprisingly good.
Vapor Volume – 4/5 – We had actually heard not to expect much from the ZEROCIG vapor volume but tried not to take that into consideration. Whether our expectations were low or the bran just came through is a little hard to discern but we felt the vapor volume was rather impressive. The device is set up so the user can take an easy, steady draw which produces an even and fairly robust plume. We even did some review reading after coming to our own conclusion to try to find out why ZEROCIG may have gotten a bad rap when it comes to vapor volume. The only thing we can say is that it seems many first time users of e-cigs are expecting the vapor volume to be just as robust and plentiful as a traditional cigarette. Those who have used electronic cigarettes before know this is usually not the case and that it is important to compare vapor volume among e-cigs not compared to regular tobacco cigarettes.
Battery Life – 3.5/5 – The battery life did leave a little to be desired, especially compared to some other brands. The issue would not be so pressing expect you will notice less taste and vapor volume as the battery life drains. This isn’t a “make it or break it” kind of detail and the score could certainly be lower and still make this brand and acceptable one to buy. However, for many users of ecigs battery life is a big issue so it important to be clear and fair about how the ZEROCIG battery life compares to the competition. If you choose this brand just consider buying an extra battery and make sure you bring your charger. Otherwise you should be able to enjoy the flavor and vapor volume all night long.
Value – 4/5 – What you get with ZEROCIG is an above average product for a fair and reasonable price. The starter kit is a good deal even if there are some brands that cost less. When compared, the kits you get for less often don’t have the same level of performance and taste. So if you find a better deal just make sure you do some research to make sure you are getting a starter kit that you won’t be disappointed with. The best part is that the upgrade starter kit for the ZEROCIG is still a great deal. In fact the price for the upgrade is where some other competitors starting price for the basic kit is. Usually on starter kit upgrades the price almost doubles, for ZEROCIG it went from $19.99 to $29.99.
Shipping – 4/5 – We had no issues with shipping and the price was reasonable so there isn’t much to report here. We generally only offer the highest of scores for shipping to those brands which offer free shipping. Of course then the stipulation must be that the price should also be fair for the starter kit. Most of the time you get free shipping with too high a starter kit price or a low cost of starter kit but with outrageous shipping costs. So for ZEROCIG you get a fair price for both which makes it a pretty good deal. Not to mention the shipping was fairly quick.
